4 Tips for Writing Baby Shower Thank You Cards

Posted by

The baby shower if over and it's time to thank your guests for the thoughtful gifts they gave you and baby. If you're lucky the host had asked your guests to write out their addresses on envelopes at the shower. This will save you time since you don't need to buy thank you cards and the envelopes are already addressed. Now to find the gift list and start writing. If a guest attended your shower, but did not give you a gift, thanking them in person is enough. Only send written thank you cards to those who gave gifts, even if you thanked them in person at the shower. Here are 4 tips for writing baby shower thank you cards:

  • Send thank you cards before the baby is born. Sometimes baby has his/her own schedule in mind and/or things don't go as planned. Emily Post states that in the event of a baby gift (shower or after baby is born) you have up to 2 months to send a thank you card.
  • Make your thanks you cards personal with specific details. Include their name, what the gift was and if possible a line or two about the gift. For example, "Dear Aunt Eileen, Thank you for the receiving blankets. I can't wait to see my little girl wrapped up in their warmth. Love, Christina"
  • Hand write thank you cards. It makes the message more heartfelt and sincere.
  • Save time by printing mailing labels for the thank you cards. This is done easily in a Word document. You can hand write envelopes but it's not as important as hand writing your thank you message.
